Perseverance is not a long race, it is many short races one after the next.

This was last night’s practice with watercolors. I have a long way to go until it comes naturally, but I’ve come a long way in less than 2 months! 😊
The above quote resonates with me because with my watercolors, as with anything in life, a little consistent effort yields big results. I set a goal of practicing at least 2-3 times a week. My long term goal is to be comfortable with the brushstrokes and much more comfortable mixing colors within the upcoming year. The blog is nice for accountability because next year I can check in on myself and see if I have in fact progressed. Hopefully I have!
Watercolors are such a beautiful way to get all the gorgeous shades and details of flowers! You’re paintings are beautiful and many already “frame-worthy”. Can’t wait to see all the amazing drawings to come.
Thank you so much!! ❤ I'm at least getting to the point where I like more than I dislike of my flowers, but it is very difficult to fix them once there are too many layers. I decided that I really need to get a color wheel so I can get the blending down better. 😉 I appreciate the support!! You'll have to show me your work and maybe give me some more pointers for mine 🙂 ❤ 🙂
Oh, Beth, you will progress!! Painting often brings out emotions, too. One day could be detailed & edgy, & the next day could be soft & pale (especially with watercolors). You may even see if difference between painting while standing or sitting down. Just have fun😊
Thank you!! ❤. I’ve been thinking that it would be very nice to get an easel so I can paint standing. It would help with the blending, i think. 😊. It definitely brings out emotions, which is mostly a good thing. 😀
Gorgeous!
Thank you so much! 😊
Beth I empathize. I am about a year on my journey to learning watercolor painting. And I feel that it is always a trip with two steps forward, one step back. You have the right approach and the right attitude: To practice consistently and acquire materials and tools as you need them.
Thank you Laura Kate! I have to remind myself that the instructors have been at this for far longer than me, but it is difficult not to compare mine to theirs. I was just playing last night using the “wrong” kind of paper and while the tiles I did were far from what they were supposed to look like, the end result was kind of cool anyway 😄 You are totally right about two steps forward, one step back! Some days I think, “Wow, I’ve got this!” And the next I think that my work looks like a toddler did it 😂 Thanks so much for reading and commenting! 😊
You’re welcome.
