Keep Learning!

Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young.

Walt Disney

I am in complete agreement with this quote by Walt Disney. I believe when we stop learning, life becomes a monotonous routine and we age much more quickly because our mind does not stay active. I think our mind needs exercise as much as our body does. Whether it is creating a garden design, drawing or painting a picture, building something or assembling a puzzle, keeping our mental gears in motion is important.

My sweetie and I, with help from his son and daughter, built the Lego roller coaster pictured above. It was time consuming, but very rewarding when we finally got to watch it go around the tracks.

I adore community education classes and while I haven’t become a professional in any of the skills I’ve learned through these classes, I have enjoyed every one of them. I have been lucky to find classes in Spanish, French, German, bonsai, drawing, zentangle, dog training, calligraphy, watercolor, hypnosis, belly dancing, wine tasting, danish and cheesecake making as well as many others.

I think being creative and trying new activities is key to staying young. My honey and I recently assembled a puzzle that kept us busy fitting the pieces together while teaching us what the state birds and flowers are. Fun and educational at the same time. Win Win!

I would love to hear what you do to keep your mind young and active.

My photography and related blog posts and video productions keep me happy and my mind active. Lately, I have been going back in time to my old video productions and re-editing them. Amazing what you can trim out when you go back. Happy Thursday Beth. Allan

Thank you, Allan! Happy Thursday to you too! Your photographs are lovely and you capture some unique views. Re-editing video productions would be doubly rewarding because you get to re-live those moments in addition to editing. 🙂

Very cool things to find fun doing! I’ve always liked your zentangles, and I’ve done quite a bit of those, too. Jigsaw puzzles are great and we always have one going. Of course art and writing are all fun for me. I agree that we should keep learning new things. 🙂

Thank you so much! ❤ I have been thinking that I need to make more time for the zentangles and drawing and less of the screen time! 😉 Jigsaw puzzles are a great way to destress, I think!! 🙂

haha I think I need to do more zentangles, too. It’s been a long time since I have done any, but they are so fun to do. Wishing you a wonderful weekend with fun things to do. 🙂

  3. It’s easy for me to keep learning cuz I don’t know that much, anyway. 🤣

Ha Ha! I feel that way every time I start something new, and when I look at those who seem to be WAY more talented. I have to remember that baby steps get me there. 😉
