As I type this post, I can hear the song, “My Obsession” (by the awesome 80s band, Icehouse) playing in my head. If you aren’t familiar, check out the video on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZoidII8FOg It really doesn’t even remotely correlate to Minions, but my thought process has never been easy to follow 😉
My current obsession is not a person, however, it is a little yellow creature called a Minion.
Tonight as I was making my own Minion (Barry – pictured above) at the Chiquita Banana site, I stopped for just a brief moment, feeling a twinge of embarrassment maybe since the website was most likely designed for children, not a 44-year-old woman. Then I decided it’s not a bad thing that I can be so easily amused.
I don’t know what it is about Minions, but I am truly enamored of those little yellow twinkie-like beings! I’m not even going to say how many Happy Meals I’ve consumed in the last few weeks while trying to collect the set of Minions. (Did it, by the way! I only have one each of the two purple Minions, but that’s all I need). My favorite is the one with the banana that, upon pulling on his arms, says “banana, ooh, banana”. Upon getting this treasured Minion, I had to do this multiple times to the amusement of myself, my daughter and my “also a kid at heart” honey.
Most of the time, I do have to be a grown up, but sometimes it’s ok to just be goofy and act like a kid! I’ve decided to accept myself, guilty pleasures, kid stuff and all! There are enough hours in the day to be responsible. Minions provide a delightful diversion to a dull day! 😉

Do you have any guilty pleasures or things that put you in a childlike stupor? 😉 Your secret is safe with me!
