You Are My Sunshine

The anniversary of my Mom’s death is approaching soon and I have been thinking about her a lot lately.

“You Are My Sunshine” was my grandparents’ song and as such has become a way to say “I Love You” in our extended family. ❤

That song was played at my Grandma’s funeral and we played and sang that song at the viewing for Mom last June.

I wanted to incorporate that lovely family legacy into my watercolor practice tonight, so I found a wonderful tutorial and created these two pieces in memory of them❤

Beautiful story and painting. it’s always been a favorite song of my girls.

Thank you Candace😊 All the memories are pouring out tonight. It will be a year ago on the 16th that Mom died. The new watercolor hobby is quite a therapeutic outlet! It is a great song, if a bit dark in the later verses. We usually just stick with the first one 😊❤😊

I love the paintings and the story. We used to sing that song with my mom too, but only the first verse. Your mom is always with you. Do you get signs from her? I dream of mine sometimes and it feels very real.

As much as I would love to, Janie, I haven’t gotten any signs from her yet, just lots of emotions. The 16th will be the one year anniversary of her death. It would be so wonderful if I would get a sign from her. Maybe she will see that I could really use that and visit me in a dream or send a sign. ❤

Signs can be anything you know. Anything that reminds you of her. Wake up with a song in your head? See a cardinal? butterfly? dragonfly? Hear a song on the radio? Find a penny or dime? Smell something that reminds you of her – flower? perfume? food? I find that when I ask for a sign – one that I will definitely know is her – it happens. Try to ask for a few days and let’s see what happens. 🙂 I’m thinking of you.

I will definitely do that, Janie❤ I will let you know if it works😊 Thanks so much for the positive thoughts!!

You are so welcome Beth! I understand. I find that when I ask for signs and remain open to listening and being aware that they arrive. And I don’t call them coincidences, but instead, synchronicity. 💗

  3. So sad to loose your Mom. This painting is great symbol for Mom.

Thank you so much! It will be a year tomorrow that she’s been gone. It still seems surreal somedays. Thanks so much for reading and for the nice comment 😊
